The International Network of Basin Organisations (INBO) was created in 1994 to facilitate operational exchanges between basin organisations and promote the implementation of Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) at river basin level.  INBO is a worldwide organisation with 188 members in 68 countries.

INBO relies on several regional networks, including the EUROPE-INBO Group which is dedicated to exchange of practical experiences of WFD implementation and which is a member of the WFD Common Implementation Strategy (CIS) set up by the European Commission and the European Water Directors.
