Sponsorship Request

The Organising Committee recognises that the support of our sponsors enabled our international conference, “Water Status Monitoring under the Water Framework Directive (WFD Lille07)” to proceed, and all sponsorship of that event was much appreciated.  The conference proved to be well-attended with 272 attendees from 30 different countries, with 90 posters and 8 exhibition stands. Many of the posters were published in a special edition of the “Journal of Environmental Monitoring”, and the oral presentations have been published in a John Wiley and Sons Ltd book, “The Water Framework Directive - Ecological and Chemical Status” (ISBN 978-0-470-51836-6). The conference post-event feedback was extremely positive – of those who commented on the programme and content, over 84% scored them as fairly to very good.

The second conference, WFD Lille10, which will be held in April 2010, is entitled “Integrated River Basin Management under the WFD: action programmes and adaptation to climate change”.  The conference will be very timely in that it will follow the publication of the first River Basin Management Plans (RBMP) by the EU Member States (end of 2009), hence representing a fantastic opportunity to further stimulate multi-sectoral and multidisciplinary exchanges.  Besides the legally-binding technical elements of river basin management planning, a huge challenge will be to ensure that scientific outputs will flow into the RBMP development, requiring an open dialogue among different communities (policy-makers, stakeholders, scientists). The conference will be an excellent forum to bring people together.

We are seeking support of this initiative, both in terms of financial sponsorship and promotional activities.  Not only is there the opportunity to offer straightforward financial sponsorship which would be recognised in all of our publicity materials including here on the event website, but also to sponsor individual items and this sponsorship would be recognised separately.  In addition, organisations are asked to endorse the event by mailing to contacts, including weblinks, inserting details in newsletters, etc.   Without the support of our sponsors, the conference could not proceed, so we do hope that organisations will be able to offer a commitment to this event.
